Broadband Opportunity Technology Program (BTOP)

The National Telecommunications and Information Administration’s Broadband Technologies Opportunities Program (BTOP) provides grants to support the deployment of broadband infrastructure in underserved areas. Funds may be used to deploy Video communications at public computer centers, schools, public safety agencies, and healthcare facilities.

Community Based Job Training Grant Program

The Community-Based Job Training Grant Program (CBJTGP) is designed to support workforce training for high-growth/high-demand industries through the national system of community and technical colleges. The primary purposes of this grant program is to build the capacity of community colleges to provide training and to train workers to develop the skills required to succeed in local or regional (i) industries and occupations that are expected to experience high-growth and (ii) industries where demand for qualified workers is outstripping the supply.

Fire Prevention and Safety Grants

The purpose of the Fire Prevention and Safety Grants is to fund Fire Prevention and Research & Development activities. Types of fire prevention projects that are supported include smoke alarm installation, fire prevention and public safety education campaigns, juvenile fire setter interventions, media campaigns, and arson prevention and awareness programs.

Foreign Language Assistance Program

The Foreign Language Assistance Program (FLAP) provides grants to local educational agencies (LEAs) for innovative model programs for the establishment, improvement, or expansion of foreign language study for elementary and secondary school students.

LEAs must work in partnership with one or more institutions of higher education (IHEs) to establish or expand articulated programs of study in languages critical to United States national security in order to enable successful students to achieve a superior level of proficiency in those languages as they advance from elementary school through high school and college.

School Based Health Center Capital (SBHCC) Grant

The Health Resources and Services Administration’s SBHCC Equipment Program addresses significant and pressing equipment needs to support the expansion of services at school-based health centers (SBHCs). Applicants must demonstrate how their proposal will lead to improvements in access to health services for children at an SBHC. At a minimum, primary care services must be provided.

Smaller Learning Communities Grant Program (SLC)

The SLC grant funds the implementation of smaller learning communities and activities to improve academic achievement in large public high schools with 1,000+ students. Projects might include freshman academies, multi-grade academies organized around career interests or other themes, “houses” in which small groups of students remain together, autonomous schools-within-a school, or personalization strategies such as student advisories, family advocate systems, an mentoring programs.
